I am really excited to be coming back to the Treasure Coast. John and I and our three sons have bought a house in Saint Lucie West. I will be "visiting" the next week for two weeks and trying to move forward with our office plans. Everyone keeps telling me how little information I have shared about the practice. Plans are progressing smoothly but not always as quick as I think it should. This is what I know:

The office is about 4 miles South of Lawnwood Medical Center. We searched all over Martin and Saint Lucie County for office space. This one seemed to suit the communities needs the most. I know it is far for some, but I am still glad you are interested in what we are doing. This list is for friends, family, colleagues, patients and anyone curious.

We are planning to open mid-2004. Approximately July.

If you don't know my husband, John, he is also a Family Physician. He has been working in a variety of Family Practice settings up in North Georgia: Urgent Care, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics. They (the patients and physicians) have said they will miss him.

John will be working in our practice as the full-time physician. He will also do hospital admissions. My goal is about a three-day week, MWF. I will not do admissions. We both see patients of all ages. Of course, my special interest in lactation will be a big part of our practice. David will be under a year old when we start. He'll probably be in the office with me some of the time.

I have received a lot of questions about what insurance we accept. Actually it is better to say, "What insurance will take us?"  Since we are just at the very beginning of the application process to be providers in the area, I have no specific insurance plans to say we are on yet. It may take several weeks to months to get on all the plans. In some cases I have heard it takes two years. With our early planning, we should move ahead with this as efficiently as possible. I will pass on the information, as I know.

Please, ask me any questions you have about the practice. When I have answers I will post or answer individual as appropriate. I am not sure of all the potential uses of this mailing list yet,  but I am sure it will be handy and informative for us both.

I appreciate you interest and support. I am very much looking forward to physically being in the community again.
